U4EA Integrates Telchemy's VQmon VoIP Performance Management Software into Multi-Service Gateways

Partnership Provides QoS Solutions to Multi-service Gateway Vendors for Real-time Multimedia Service Provider Applications

SUWANEE, GA (May 14, 2004) - Telchemy®, Inc., the global leader in real time Voice over IP Performance Management software, today announced that today announced that U4EA Technologies Limited has licensed Telchemy's VQmon® call quality monitoring and analysis software for use with U4EA's Guarantee of Service (GoS™) and SIP software technology. Embedded in multi-service gateways, including Ericsson's new Multi Service Edge Device (MSED) HL950, U4EA's GoS software delivers Quality of Service (QoS) assurances to real-time multimedia service provider applications, while its SIP Business Border Element and User Agent modules provide call management functionality.

VQmon provides fast, accurate, real-time analysis of VoIP calls, generating call quality metrics, including: listening and conversational quality scores and detailed diagnostic information on the severity and distribution of packet loss, discards and jitter. VQmon is the first standards-based call quality monitoring software to support the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC 3611 (RTCP XR) and enhanced QoS reporting protocols H.323 and Megaco.

"Early adopters of VoIP have learned that fault and performance management is an essential part of QoS, especially service providers and the Enterprise," said Alan Clark, President and CEO of Telchemy. "With VQmon, U4EA is providing sophisticated, standards-based call quality management for the multi-service gateway marketplace."

As a software developer, U4EA Technologies has worked in partnership with the global telecoms supplier, Ericsson AB of Sweden, in the development and launch of their new multi-service edge device MSED HL-950. U4EA is continuing to enhance the functionality of both this product and its next generation platform with the integration of Telchemy's VQmon voice and monitoring module.

Columb Harrington, CEO of U4EA Technologies, explained "Service providers need to both monitor and enforce SLAs (Service Level Agreements) at the customer premise equipment, particularly when rolling out premium real-time services such as VoIP. U4EA's QoS technology both controls and reports on QoS parameters at the packet level, while Telchemy's VQMon adds VoIP-specific monitoring that correlates to user-perceived quality. Together they give control to the operator and comfort to the customer that the service will operate without a hitch."
