COUNTERPATH
SELECTS TELCHEMY'S VQMON FOR REAL-TIME VOIP PERFORMANCE
MONITORING
Integrates VQmon into market-leading
eyeBeam softphone
SUWANEE, GA, March 14, 2006 –
Telchemy® Incorporated, the global leader in VoIP
Performance Management, today announced that CounterPath™
Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: CTPS), a leader in Voice over
IP (VoIP) communications software, has licensed Telchemy’s
VQmon/EP to provide integrated performance monitoring
and reporting for eyeBeam™, CounterPath’s
market-leading SIP-based video softphone.
By integrating with Telchemy’s
VQmon, CounterPath has added enhanced performance
management capabilities to eyeBeam that will benefit
its enterprises and service provider customers. VQmon
enables a network manager to monitor and manage the
quality of a softphone call in real time and to identify
problems impacting quality.
CounterPath's softphones for Windows,
MAC OS X, Pocket PC and Linux are software applications,
which run on devices such as personal computers (PCs)
or personal digital assistants (PDAs), or can be integrated
into set-top boxes, embedded devices and instant messenger
applications. When a CounterPath softphone is connected
to a service provider's network, the user can make
and receive calls to and from other "on-net"
callers (IP-to-IP) and/or "off-net" callers
(IP-to-PSTN/Cellular) with the same quality of service
they would expect from an IP handset. By integrating
VQmon, CounterPath softphones will be able to monitor
call quality in real time and report performance through
both RTCP XR (RFC3611) and SIP.
“We selected Telchemy due
to the accuracy and widespread industry support of
its technology,” said Mark Bruk, CEO of CounterPath
Solutions. “We welcome the opportunity to work
with Telchemy to bring the benefits of real-time VoIP
performance monitoring to our service provider and
enterprise customers.”
VQmon provides listening and conversational
call quality metrics in both R factor and MOS formats
as well as detailed diagnostic information, giving
network managers both high level metrics and the ability
to drill down to identify specific problems. It is
the first VoIP Performance Management software to
support the new VoIP management protocols, providing
the essential metrics for QoS reporting protocols
for SIP, RTCP XR (RFC3611) PacketCable, H.323, MGCP,
and Megaco.
“We are very pleased that
CounterPath is using VQmon to extend the technology
leadership of its eyeBeam softphone,” said Alan
Clark, President and CEO of Telchemy. “The ability
to perform high-level performance management is essential
to both enterprises and service providers.”
