Telchemy
developed the IP network impairment emulation / simulation
algorithm adopted by TIA TR30 as TIA921 and by ITU
as ITU-T Recommendation G.1050. Our intent was to
make this technology freely available to help the
industry with the development of more efficient and
robust VoIP and IPTV products, technologies and services.
We would like to continue to develop and enhance this
technology in cooperation with others.
The software that is downloadable
from this web page may be used for any purposes -
experimental, research or commercial.
This IP network emulation algorithm
is based on a cascaded time series model. Each stage
in the model comprises a filter function into which
bursts of impulses are fed. These "delay impulses"
have a height that is proportional to the serialization
delay of an MTU on the link being modeled by this
stage. The model also has the concept of "occupancy"
which is the proportion of time during which the link
is impaired by a high density of impulses.
